With Melting me softly, the sci-fi part of the storyline wasn't thoroughly researched. Had the crew done a lot more digging, they would have added layers to this story, instead they did the bare minimum but that wasn't the biggest problem. The problem I think, was the director who failed to steer the mediocre script in to an award-winning, mind.
