Phoenix Magazine 60 years of arts and literature at UT Phoenix

The Literary Phoenix. Linna Drehmel was born at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho in 1973 and grew up surrounded by military. She has spent much of her life studying anthropology and has a particular fondness for archaeology. She loves to find ways to intertwine anthropological and archaeological themes into her writing.

In stanza 6, the reader is told "the anthem doth commence." At this point, the speaker is either the "bird of loudest lay" or else the entire chorus of birds: the eagle, swan, and crow.
