Gel printing or gelli printing is a form of art to make prints called monoprinting. Previously in order to make monoprints you had to have a press to transfer the paints from the plate to the paper or fabric. Today there is a new thing called a gelli plate, which is a soft silicone plate that allows you create beautiful prints without a press.

Lay down base color. First, have students put a few drops of two to three colors of acrylic paint onto the Gelli plate. Have students roll with a brayer until the plate is fully covered. Clean off brayer. After laying down the base color, have students roll the brayer on a scrap piece of paper.

When arranging the prints, I included 3 photos cut to a hexagon shape to match the prints. The intent was to add photos as part of the pattern. Adhere the prints using a clear glue. If you are using heavier paper, use a liquid glue. As these prints were printed on copy paper, a glue stick was high tac enough for adhering the images to the page.
