Morskie Oko, which means "Sea Eye" in Polish, is the largest and deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains. It is located in the southern part of Poland, near the border with Slovakia. The lake has been an important natural landmark for centuries, attracting visitors from all over Europe.

To get to Morskie Oko, you need to take a bus from Zakopane to Palenica Białczańska which usually takes 30 minutes. From there, you can take an easy 2:20 hour hike or ride horse-drawn carriages. In the winter it is completely frozen. You can walk across the lake like many do who venture to Black Lake (Czarny Staw) or into the higher mountains. It snowed the day before our hike, the views we encountered during our hike were picturesque. The hike to Morskie Oko is 8.5 km.
