Biography Ceramicist and novelist. De Morgan started his career as a painter and then a stained-glass artist, before turning to ceramics in 1869. The Orange House Pottery was in production from 1873 to 1882, when De Morgan moved to Merton Abbey, Surrey, close to the Morris & Company works.
