challenging and avant-garde, volta isn't a perfect record, but it's a more than worthy component of this wonderful artist's catalogue. this isn't a pop record, by any means - this music ping-pongs back and forth between threatening post-industrialism and progressive folktronica, w/ excellent contributions along the way from big-name guests timbaland and anohni. it's like björk.
