I love it when I meet someone that loves recording as much as I do, and in this case, the expression is through the modifying and "re-engineering" of Oktava microphones.

Oktava MK-219. If it can be gotten pretty cheap, is the MK 219 a useful mic to have or does it really need to be modded by M. Joly? I think the standard mod is $170. so if I can get the mic for $100 or less that brings the total up to say $270 - is that money well spent or can something better/more useful/versatile be gotten for the same.

Re: Oktava MK-219 mods. Yes, you can do it without replacing the capsule, however, the output level of original WM60 will be significantly lower, connected as a source follower. I choosed WM61 instead, because it has higher output, and is about 3-4db lower noise level. and it costs less than $2.
