I bought a pair of JBL LX 44 speakers and was really impressed. They had a great sound with a real rich sound.. Yamaha RX-V867, and JBL LX-44s. The CD player's DAC is where the clarity starts. Add a clean amp, and clean speakers and enjoy! The Yamaha has a 'pure direct' mode that shuts off everything but the amp (fed by good analog cables.

These are my first JBL speakers. CL buy locally. I had no idea they would sound so good with my Sansui tube receiver. Placed them vertically on the floor.. The tweeter is accurate and not harsh. I fail to see why LX-44 gets bad rep. I am glad I did not get lured into buying expensive, damaged L series speakers on the bay. Reviewed Apr 10th.

Replacing woofers is a tricky business. Seems the LX44 is 91dB SPL and the original 408G is some sort of 8" polycone. It's up to you, but this 91dB PE Eminence special might do better than the Yamaha replacement: Eminence 8" Paper Cone Professional Woofer 8 Ohm. It's unusual.

The JBL LX44s are top notch speakers. I have had mine for 8 years and they are solid. Great sound.. 24 hz by doing that so the LX 44's stay stock :) Similar Products Used: StudioLabs 2 x 8 inch, 2 x 1.5 inch polymer dome. Polypropolene bass drivers in a time aligned hexagonal tower enclosure. Interesting speakers when mated to a quality sub.

Lx-44 HT, Aside from the 'vinyl' veneer, they are a decent speaker, as is the LX-55, Not to be compared with the "Golden Years", and high end JBL's but quite listenable,And 50.$ is about right, will undoubtedly need surrounds I've had a couple pairs, and prefer them to some of the later 'Harman' stuff.
