Dog Pound (2010) Kim Chapiron Synopsis, Characteristics, Moods

The thing that's so audacious about Dog Pound is how wholesale its plot, tonality and execution is lifted from Scum. Full Review | Original Score: 2.5/5 | May 20, 2021. Frank Lovece Film Journal.

Film Review Dog Pound FAN THE FIRE

Dog Pound fittingly begins with dramatizations of its three key characters' imprisonable offences, then ends on the easy, if universal, symbolism of an open door being slammed shut by a riot policeman. The space between shows whatever individualism the film's teen criminals had when they entered Enola Vale (the facility in which the action takes place), violently crimped into generic.

Journées du film français avec PSE Institut français du Cambodge

Taking out one of the top awards at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, Dog Pound is a tough, visceral and unflinching prison drama that takes a cold hard look at the brutal world of juvenile detention. Enola Vale Correctional Center in Montana is a dumping ground for boys the system doesn't know what to do with.

Dog Pound

Dog Pound is an excellent film. I'm not a huge "Drama" genre fan, but from the opening credits all the way to the end-credits, I was completely engaged. Acting, camera work, and production are superb. Not a lot of fluff, just raw, scene acting. The biggest reason for writing this review is to say that I absolutely HATED the ending. Hated it.
