Considered one of the forerunners of kinetic art, Jesus Rafael Soto, born in Ciudad Bolívar In 1923, he began his artistic career at a very young age, painting posters for movie theaters in his hometown. In 1942 he received a scholarship to study art and art history at the School of Plastic Arts of Caracas, where he met his classmates Carlos Cruz-Diez, Mercedes Pardo, Omar Carreno y Alexander.
