HISTORY OF SOLENZARA. The village of Solenzara dates back to the 19th century and gets its name form a nearby river. It is founded, because in 1840 Commander Poli opens a factory, where 6'000 tons of iron will be manufactured. In 1944 during the Second World War the United States Army Air Force builds an air base in Solenzara. From there, fighter planes and bomber aircrafts fly combat.

We chose the "busy" place just next to the Camping and Restaurant U Rosumarinu, 8 km up D268 from Solenzara. There seem to be various other places along the road, e.g. at Auberge Restaurant L'Alba 1 km closer to Solenzara. However, this review is about the place U Rosumarinu. The river pool and cliffs are just behind the parking space.

Le dépaysement total. Superbes lieux de baignades et de calmes le long de cette rivière. Plein de plages naturelles avec de nombreux emplacements de stationnement même avec un camping-car mais attention interdiction d'y dormir. Ne pas hésiter à faire de la marche pour trouver des lieux calmes tout au long de la rivière.

La D268 mène de Solenzara jusqu'au col de Bavella. Cet itinéraire est l'un des plus beaux et des plus variés de Corse. La Solenzara et ses affluents ont formé de nombreuses et magnifiques vasques dans la région. Une belle occasion de changer de décor après la plage. Autrefois, on pouvait se garer au bord de la route au bout de 4 km.
