#1 Where to buy bandsaw blades for General 490? 02-22-2023, 02:02 PM I'm looking for a place that sells 100" bandsaw blades for a General 490. (im in London ON) LV only sells the 5/8" one. Lots of other places sell over and under 100" -- 97" -102" etc…). Im sure there is a range of sizes for this saw but im not sure what it is.

04-23-2019, 05:59 PM Hi folks, new on the site and getting my home shop set up. I have a chance to take a look at one of these this weekend. let's just say it will be in good shape. Any thoughts on what the value should be? What are the usual parts needed for fixes.. tires, blade and guide? Are parts not too bad to find?

General Model 490-1 Bandsaw. by Jim Shaver. I recently purchased a General Band Saw, Model 490-1 other wise called a 15". The base model came with factory guides (re saw capacity at 6 1/8") and a hp motor. I chose to upgrade to Carter Guides (re- saw at just over 6 "), a 1 hp Baldor motor (factory wired for 220v on a 15 amp plug), a miter gauge.

The least expensive way to get additional resaw capacity would be to purchase one of the Asian 14 inch cast iron saws and add a riser block.
