Harry, our OC, worked us hard, very hard. We were joined by our Boss, Dave, and our Sergeant, Paddy in early '66 and the platoon was complete.

We Remember Today the life and service of Private (Pte) Paul Large, 12 Platoon, D Company, 6 RAR, of Coolah, NSW. Pte Large was killed in action on 18 August 1966 at Long Tan.

One reads: "This Avenue was planted to perpetuate the memory of Private Paul Large, 6th RAR and formerly of Coolah and seventeen of his fellow servicemen who were killed in Vietnam on 18th August 1966". in 1968, Pte Paul Trzencinski of 7RAR's Assault Pioneer Platoon was killed accidentally by one of his own men T/Sgt Bob Buick failed to ensure his platoon members were carrying the prescribed amount of ammunition as per SOPs before leaving for the Long Tan rubber, requiring a re-supply of ammunition by air during the battle that put RAAF.

Pte Paul Large from 12 Platoon fronts Major Harry Smith for punching a Lance Corporal. Large had been before Harry the Officer Commanding (OC) of D Coy three times previously. Harry was going to give him 21 days field punishment and 21 days loss of pay so Large asked for a court martial as he said he had good evidence and 4 witnesses to support.
