Step 1: Materials and Template To make this cake, I first had to create the template. I traced a guitar. It took 4 sheets of 8x11 paper. I scanned the tracings, put them together and shrunk the body of the guitar to fit on one 8x11 sheet of paper. I also traced the head of the guitar and shrunk it down to be (somewhat) proportional to the base.

I first baked a 1/2 sheet cake, 11×13 cake and two 9″ cakes. I let the cakes cool and then placed the 1/2 and 11×13 cakes on a covered piece of cardboard. I then cut out the shape of the guitar, the 1/2 sheet cake as the body of the guitar and the 11×13 sheet cake as the neck and head.
